Day 13 (1/10) A (somewhat) sunny day in the park

Placeholder! Looks like I never got around to writing today's entry.

Plenty more inexplicability to come.

Edit: As promised, a recap of the day's events.

So I spent the morning and early afternoon at Da'an park.

It was so nice out there were old people exercising, groups of kiddies on field trips, and lazy gardeners napping on benches.

There were some beautiful floral arrangements in the park, as well as some weird ones. This one's kinda grotesque to me.

Lunch was at the original Din Tai Fung, Shanghai-nese cuisine, I think. It's a really popular restaurant, and understandably so. The food is really good, probably the best hot and sour soup I've ever had. Nothing too elaborate... simple dishes, but really well done. You had to get there early or late to avoid the lines.
We were supposed to pull a day-night doubleheader there to try as much on the menu as possible, but the nice hostess outside another nearby restaurant convinced dad to give their place a try. Sadly I neglected to take photos, but the food there was really good as well.

Back at the park, where the ducks were out playing.
The fish are behind you, dummies! Or are ducks herbivores?

Can't take him anywhere.

Enjoying the stylings of the blind flutist.

Me and the mascot for the 2009 Taipei Deaflympics. There's a joke here somewhere.

Stumbled across a little fair featuring arts and crafts, pottery, foodstuff other various trinkets.

One of the ladies there at the scarf-painting booth asked dad if I were his daughter... this is getting out of hand.

Out of nowhere a group of older folks show up, lay some tape down on the grass and we have ourselves a polo match. I'm not exactly sure that it was polo they were playing, but it involved hitting a ball with a mallet and, if you made it through the wicket, scampering across the field as effeminately as possible to follow it.
I wanted to catch one of the fellas performing the dainty run but it wasn't interesting enough to wait around on them.

Bonus:

But I barely know you!

Self explanatory. Must try.
